Gift Cards
Buy gift cards in bulk once, then hand them out one at a time — each card delivered by a single link the recipient just opens.
Sometimes a deal isn't enough and you want to give a customer actual value: a thank-you, a make-good after a support issue, a reward for a milestone. Gift cards are Paylode's product for that. You order cards from a marketplace of brands into a pool you own, and draw them down over time — no one-off procurement each time you want to say thanks.
Handing a card out takes one step: generate a reward link and share it. The recipient opens the link, reveals the card, and redeems it with the brand — no account, no login, nothing to install.
What you can do with it
- Order inventory from the marketplace — browse gift card offers, pick a brand, denomination, and quantity, and fund the order into a pool. See Order gift cards.
- Hand out cards as links — reserve cards from a pool and get back single-use URLs to drop into an email, a text, or a chat: one or several from the app, or in bulk through the API — usable in any channel, inside or outside Paylode. See Share gift-card reward links.
- Reward an action with a card — attach a pool to a Boost campaign as an incentive, and the journey delivers the card when the customer completes your action. See Add and rank incentives.
- Watch your orders and inventory — track an order through fulfilment and read how many cards a pool has available, reserved, and redeemed. See Track gift-card orders.
How it works
Four moving parts, in order:
- Marketplace — the catalog of gift card offers available to you. Each offer is a brand with one or more purchasable contracts — a contract fixes the currency, the denominations you can buy, and the discount off face value you pay.
- Order — you place an order against a contract. Orders are paid from your wallet, the prepaid balance held for you inside Paylode, so there's no card charged at purchase time.
- Pool — the fulfilled cards land in a pool you own: your inventory, grouped by brand, denomination, and currency. Each card you hand out draws it down by one.
- Reward link — a single-use link carrying one reserved card. Unrevealed links expire on a schedule you set, and the reserved card returns to your pool — so an ignored link never strands inventory.
The recipient's side is a hosted page: each link opens a Paylode-hosted reveal page showing the brand and denomination, with the redeemable code shown after reveal. You share the link; the page does the rest.
Integration paths
| Path | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| In the app | Order inventory, watch pools, and generate reward links — one or several at a time. No code anywhere. |
| Inside Boost | Attach a funded pool as a campaign incentive: the customer completes your action and receives a card from it automatically. See Add and rank incentives. |
| Bulk links via API | Generate reward links programmatically from a pool and deliver them through any channel you run — inside or entirely outside Paylode. See Share gift-card reward links. |
Ordering and inventory live in the admin app; the API's job is link generation at scale. The recipient needs no integration at all — just the link. For where these paths fit alongside your other Paylode surfaces, see Integration options.
